IMPORTANT NOTE: It is my (Landon Curt Noll) regret to inform you that the contest has been delayed yet again. The reason for this delay is that there are not enough people to help judge the contest. One of the former judges is no longer able to serve. The other judge appears to have dropped off the net and cannot be found.

The contest cannot be judged alone. Even with 2 to 3 people it takes a major commitment of 3 to 4 weekends to judge the contest. Beyond that, additional time is needed for someone to present the winners at the Usenix conference.

The contest should not be judged by one person. Since 1985, the contest has been the effort of several people. It is the collaborative effort that made it work. It would not be the same without several viewpoints involved.

I know that a number of people have worked very hard on new entries. Due to the change in Usenix schedule, the contest was delayed for 18 months. So it makes it all the more difficult to inform folks that the contest has been put in an indefinite hold for lack of other judges.

I regret the delay in announcing this situation. I was hoping that conditions might change, but they have not. But until we have a full set of judges that can put in the time to judge the contest, the IOCCC will have to go on hold.
